The COVID-19 pandemic continues to have wide reaching effects on a global basis. In these uncertain times, organizations are dealing with a variety of issues and challenges and look to the heads of organizations to provide leadership in addressing the issues and challenges, developing a plan and demonstrating strong leadership to work towards the common goal of helping their organizations through these current times and into the future. The panel will discuss the issues and challenges facing the GCs and their respective organizations in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. As leaders of their respective companies, the GCs are faced with many challenges in dealing with this crisis and will discuss topics, including:

• The role of the GC as legal advisor and business partner in collaborating with the board of directors and other c-suite executives in responding to the global pandemic.
• Addressing the legal and business issues facing their respective organizations, such as revising the company’s business strategies, implementing new health and safety protocols, addressing heightened information security and data privacy issues, implementing furloughs and lay-offs, etc.
• The challenges of managing legal departments and ensuring legal values and work quality while observing social distancing requirements, leveraging legal technology, enhancing the risk and compliance functions and maximizing the value outside counsel provides for their organizations.

Finally, the panel will discuss the importance of diversity and inclusion in promoting ideas and developing business plans with the purpose of unifying individuals in an organization to help accomplish common goals. The panel will also discuss the importance of diversity and inclusion initiatives, both internally and externally with outside counsel.
