This program will focus on trends and newly compiled statistics on Anti-Asian violence and hate arising from the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly in the New York area. The panel will explore contributing factors and causes, analyze findings across data collected by various organizations, discuss the facts in a historical context, analyze the effectiveness of actions taken by politicians, law enforcement, and community organizations, and consider potential solutions to address the root causes. This program addresses directly the harmful and destructive consequences of directing blame for the pandemic at Asian people and countries, and the divisiveness it has created in modern day America.
