Anna Mercado Clark

Anna Mercado Clark is a Partner at Phillips Lytle LLP, a full service law firm in the U.S. and Canada. She leads the firm’s Data Security and Privacy and e-Discovery and Digital Forensics Teams.  As a former Assistant District Attorney, she also handles white collar criminal matters and investigations. She is a member of the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee and led the firm’s creation and implementation of a diversity pipeline program to encourage middle school through high school students from underserved communities to pursue legal careers. Ms. Clark is also an Adjunct Professor of Law at Fordham University School of Law. She is a member of EDRM at Duke Law, a community of technical and legal professionals who create practical resources to improve e-Discovery and information governance, including cross-border discovery in light of the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”), and serves on the External Advisory Group for the United Nations World Food Programme’s Responsible Data Task Force. Ms. Clark obtained her B.A. in Biology from Rutgers University and J.D. from Fordham University School of Law. She was named to the Lawyers of Color’s Inaugural Nation’s Best List (2019), and recognized as New York Metro Super Lawyers® Rising Star, 2014-2020, New York Women’s Edition Rising Star, 2020, the Hon. Denny Chin ‘78 Alumni Awardee for Excellence in the Legal Profession, 2018, and the Pan American Concerned Citizens Action League, Woman Achiever Awardee in 2010. While in law school, she interned for the Hon. Denny Chin of the U.S. District Court of the Southern District of New York and received various Thomas Tang National Moot Court Competition awards (Best Team, Best Oralist, Regional 2003; Finalist, National 2003; Best Brief, Finalist, Regional 2004; Best Oralist, National 2004). She also received awards for Best Brief and Best Team at the Cardozo/BMI Entertainment Law Moot Court Competition in 2004.
 
Ms. Clark has been awarded the following ANSI-accredited credentials by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP): Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E) and Certified Information Privacy Professional for the U.S. Private Sector (CIPP/US), preeminent certifications for advanced concentration in European data protection laws and U.S. private-sector laws, standards and practices, respectively.
